Tell-U-What…Telluride

It has been a few days. You may be wondering…did I get to drive again? No. David consented to me driving for about three hours the day he posted and that was it. I got us out of Arkansas and into Texas. Then he took back over and has eaten about eight packets of jerky to make it through.

We have learned a few things since I last wrote.

In Durango, Colorado David learned if you put your pocket knife in with the laundry it shreds shirts. Somehow the knife only got his three favorite ones and none of mine. Smart knife. We also learned the secret word to the speakeasy in Durango and this is where I learned that mint juleps are delicious and have suddenly become a bourbon drinker.

Stopped in Telluride for four days to check out the film festival. Not being fans of lines, we made it to zero movies. But we did check out amazing art by Faviana Rodriquez, the famous activist behind Culture Strike. We stayed on some friends’ property which had breathtaking views of the entire valley. Met Governor Inslee who seems to be practicing running for president. Were gifted a Nepalese prayer flag, blessed and everything, so hope that works like it should. Met a few famous mountain climbers. This has me searching in the book I am reading, Behave, how their brain is different than mine. All their life and death experiences make them laugh hysterically. Me, just hearing the stories makes me slightly nauseous. Clearly different amygdala and dopamine system.

In Wyoming we learned share the road means something very different in DC. Hudson learned that bison coming by the car means that he gets to eat out of the treat bag directly to keep from barking so now he loves bison. Lola slept through the near stampede.

So, we have come through eight states and are wiser for it. Entering Montana today where a shower awaits and hopefully a delicious PB&J at Crumb.
