Yesterday after soaking in hot springs, we stopped at an outdoors store for hats since camp at night is quite chilly. They had two hats left in the whole store which is leaving winter behind in favor of spring. One hat was burgundy with a deer motif in Aztec-like symbols. The other is pictured above. David chose the non-Aztec one.
This morning we had a conversation about it.
Kristen: I am surprised you picked the more feminine hat.
David: I think this is the more masculine one.
Kristen: Really? With the hearts and squirrels on it in baby blue?
David: Those are wolves.
Kristen: Really? How do you connect the acorns right by the squirrels to the wolves?
David: They are wolves that look like squirrels.
Kristen: What about the big baby blue pom pom on top of the hat. What do you make of that?
David: Look I live in a gender-neutral world. People can use whatever bathroom they want, wear whatever colors they want. I’m a modern guy.
(Kristen gives him the once over as he stands there in his plaid shirt and Carhartt pants carrying his ax.)
David: I could find a way to get rid of the pom pom.
